Elder Kasey Crafts
Dear Friends and Family,
Its good to hear everything is going well! I love you all alot. This week has for sure been a great week! It strengthens my testimony everyday to be here and I learn lots of things everyday.
One family we've started working with is the Castros Family. They've had lessons before but this time we're bringing in heavy artillery. We took the Familia Pena with us when we taught them and i think they will be a great help to the Castros. ( by heavy artilery i mean The family Pena) The Penas and the Castros have been friends for a while. Having members at the lessons we teach really help us and the investigators alot especially if its someone the investigators know and have respect for. We can bear testimony and bring the spirit but when someone you know bears their testimony to you it means a little bit more.
Last night we had several appointments fall through and we weren't able to teach Gabby. We didn't have anything else to do so we when "finding" and found some kids playing football in the street. We were just going to try to talk to them but one of them asked us if we wanted to play. (they probably thought for sure we'd say no because Who plays football in a white shirt and tie?) We saw the teaching opportunity and We told them of course we'll play! We played for a few minutes and then told them we had to get going but we were able to talk to all of them at the end and share a message with them and most of them wanted pass along cards.
One of the "strange foods i had this week is called Chicharonis. Basically what that is is deep fried pig skin with alot of fat. The Mexican people here LOVE that with a passion. We were invited to lunch with the Delgado family and they told us we were going to have Chicharonis. Elder Westover has had it before and said it was super super gross so i was really excited. I tried a couple of them and they didn't taste too bad. I'll probably eat them again. They tasted alot like the fatty part of a piece of bacon.
Also one of the things that happend this week was the mom of Tyson ( Tyson is a recent convert who is a sophmore) prayed at the end of one of our lessons. She has been inactive for basically most of her life. I was so excited and it seems like it might be a start to her coming back to the church. I've been thinking alot about prayer. Prayer is amazing. At any given time on any day of the week we can talk to our Father in Heaven. The God that created the entire universe. We can talk to Him and He will know exactly what we need and how to help us. He knows where we are at any part in our lives and will always listen to us. And all we have to do is talk to Him like its a cell phone call. Many people in Fort Hancock dont understand the principle of prayer. About how a prayer can be just a conversation with Heavenly Father. Its usually memorized. But its amazing that God the creator of Worlds and people unnumbered remembers us and our problems. But we as His Children only have one God and still sometimes we forget to pray and talk to Him.
Some great scriptures are D&C 6:34, 2Nephi 32:3,
Love you all a lot and i hope you all have a great week!
