All Our Miracle Workers

Dear Friends and Family,

This has a been a really great week! lots of cool and interesting things have happened.

First off we had some wild food. Last Tuesday we went and visited Tyson (he is a recent convert) and his family. His family is really nice. I swear everytime we go in there they make us food. They had heard that i had never had menudo. (Menudo is something that alot of missionaries have a big fear of down here, because alot of them dont like it at all.) Menudo is basically just cooked up cow intestines. I have been wanting to try it since i got here and i finally got the chance! The way they cooked it made it taste pretty good. They put it in a soup of chile and seasoning. ( it kind of sounds cool to say i ate cow intestine soup) but over all i think it tasted pretty good, the texture was just a bit strange.

Also This week some people gave me and my companion some of the biggest apples we had ever seen in our entire lives. They were massive! We were really excited to eat them the next day. I ate mine and then on Saturday i was sick as a dog. it was gnarly. I know that without prayer i wouldn't have been able to go out and work the rest of the day. This is a good example of sinning and using the Atonement. Sometimes things that may not be part of the commandments seem like they are the biggest coolest things in the world but in reality they are just a rotten apple and you will be sick and miserable (spiritually and physically) if you participate in them. But Thanks to prayer ( the atonement) we are able to over come our spiritual sickness and go about doing the right thing. God will Forgive us and help us as many times as we honestly repent and come unto Him.

We are still teaching Gabby! We've taught her twice since last time. The first time we were going to watch "The Testaments" with her and then bear testimony and challenge her to be baptized. It ended up that she was sick and we taught her about Priesthood Blessings and we gave her one. We then taught her about the Word of Wisdom. And then last night we were able to watch "The Testaments" with her. It worked out better this way because we were able to have our heavy artillery there. (Sister Morales) The spirit was definitely there and she is going to read and pray a little bit more before committing to baptism.

One other person we've been teaching is lady named Eva. She probably about 40. We've been teaching her about once a week since i got here. She has a pretty busy schedule. The first time we taught her we weren't sure how ready she was to hear the gospel. But over the length of about 5 weeks we found out she has been talking to some of her associates at work who are LDS about our beliefs and I think that has really helped her become more prepared to hear the message of the gospel. One thing i've been thinking of is the friend at Evas Work. What if she had not talked about the gospel with Eva? She might not have been prepared or willing to continue to listen to us missionaries. I know that when we open our mouth and talk about the gospel with anyone we will never regret it and it will help countless people. One quote from Zone training that i'll paraphrase is "The only thing we have to fear about opening our mouths is opening our mouths." God has promised that our mouths will be filled with what to say, all we have to do is have faith and actually do it.

Another thing i've been thinking about and noticing is the fact that miracles do happen. Alot of people think that miracles have ceased back in the time of Jesus and the Apostles. We as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints know that is false. For Example the very fact that i have been able to learn and understand spanish in the 2 month time i've been learning and be able to speak and understand most things that are said is a miracle. I knew zero spanish before i went to the MTC and 2 months later i can talk to people. The very fact that people will change there lives when they hear the gospel and over come the natural man and come unto Him is a miracle. I know that some miracles may not be as extravagant as Moses Parting the Red Sea but the miracles today are just as profound and just as important and amazing. God has a hand in all of our lives.

One thing i heard this week was " A mission is an amazing time. It is the only time in your whole life where you have 15 million people praying for you every day". Thank you all for your prayers! Love you all a lot! Have a great week!
