Man! What a great week this has been! I love the MTC and everything about it. Btdubs my Pday is today because of thanksgiving and such, and maybe will be wednesday the rest of the time... so there is that! But seriously, I love everything about the CCM and being a missionary. All of it.
One of the funniest parts of this week was when I ran into one of the new latino sisters. I was coming out of the hall bathroom and she was coming in, and we both kind of saw each other and took a step back, and she look so scared! Because... she literally came up to my belly button! I felt like a giant monster and felt so bad for scaring her, she literally tilted her head all the way up to look at me haha.... got to get used to that feeling. She is super nice though.

Also, during class our favorite teacher who always jokes told us to prepare to teach the Latinos in five minutes, then about 2 minutes later he was like, "NO worries, is un chiste (joke)" And from earthquakes, to latinos, to verbs due, etc, I was sick of his chistes, so through laughing frustration I said, "YO ENFERMO SUS CHISTES" (iM sick of your jokes haha) and his response back was "USTED ES UN CHISTE!!" (YOU ARE A JOKE!" haha we all were like crying laughing... the people here are literally so funny and almost never serious.

Now for the Zombie part. I can feel the brain washing happening. I dont want to get ready in the morning, I only want to read my scrips out loud in spanish and stuff like that. I cant remember names of artists, movies, people, etc from home. My favorite thing of the day is watching a clip of a general authority, and it{s the best day ever if we have fish for dinner. Things that are NOT NORMAL but truly are amazing. I know these changes are good because I am truly learning how to become a better missionary and give myself to the Lord completely for these next months. Although, it has been a struggle. Not singing songs "of the world" has been incredibley difficult. And although I do let Disney and some other good ones stay, a lot of other ones do distract from what we are doing here, and it has been a struggle. Also not being able to just go running and play the piano have been some rough withdrawls. HOWEVER in reading a talk about becoming a consecrated missionary (thank you Amanda!!) I have realized that the blessings of choosing the things of the world and giving up those "little things" that are holidng you back is so worth it. I felt the spirit SO strong, in lessons, in just everything. A quote I loved from a talk this week was "We were created and destined for glory long before the world was, therefore, which is more important?" I know that I am forced to choose only the things that help me spiritually and are not of the world, but know that in choosing to do and spend time with spiritual things you will always be more blessed. Also, yesterday me and my comp walked around the little box for like 2 hours memorizing the first vision and such and I did feel like a zombie then haha....

Also the other night we had the opportunity to do lessons with the NEWBIES and let me tell you, the lord has blessed me! I realized that I actually had learned something here and knew spanish! One time though we were with these elders that were not even trying. NOT EVEN! And it kind of made me mad because I could see they didn{t realize at all the sacredness of their calling. Then when it was our turn to give feedback, I felt the Spirit burn in me so strong and words just flowed. I told them they needed to realize they had been set apart to teach and had the Lord on their side, and that even if they couldn{t do anything, they could try. I felt so much power and knew that they needed to hear that. After I said that I said, sorry to be so harsh, I just felt SO strongly that I needed to tell you that, and they were chill with it. AFterwards I almost threw up though cause I felt bad... maybe thats just a reaction to feeling the spirit strong haha... But after that I realized... holy smokes! I{m like a missionary! I can feel the Spirit working through me and saying the things Heavenly Father needs to tell his children. Haha you would have thought Id figured that out long ago, but it was a fun realization for me...

Anyhow, nothing else too exciting. My hermanas and district are so great! There is this one elder from a Navajo reservation in Arizona and he tells us some pretty awesome stories! Dad I told him about the blood suckers and the cave, but he said he hadn{t heard it haha... so thats fun. Also we have played volleyball EVERY DAY this week and one day we did Hermanas vs Elders and WE TOTALLY KILLED! Well.. if we kept score we would have haha... Oh man, and the one day I did play soccer, the teacher reffing told us to be careful because the new group of Latinos we have is very aggressive... and we said okay. But then halfway through the game he told us we couldn{t play because he didn{t want us to get hurt.. I was kind of mad we got kicked out, but then some elder almost broke his ankle and had to go to the hospital, so I felt better after that. If there is one thing that is serious here, it{s soccer. They kind of just don{t apply the competitive rule to it haha.

Dear Friends and Family,

This week was a great week with plenty of miracles! It was great. :) it seems like all of them happened on Saturday.

This last week Eva Violobols got baptized!!! She is very great and was very ready. The baptismal service went very well, and she was able to invite all of her family to come and see. Hopefully her example will influence them as well. I had the great opportunity to confirm her a member of the church and give her the Holy Ghost on Sunday the 23. :)

Saturday in the morning we had a Zone Conference that is about 1 hour 30 min away in which Elder Corbridge from the Seventy was coming to talk to us. We got on our way but after a little while we noticed that the tire was sounding weird. We stopped and we didn't have a flat tire but we did have a Giant bold stuck straight into our tire! We didn't think it was a good idea to get on the freeway, but Elder Rodriguez knew someone in that area who could help us. We got it all fixed up. But Looking at the bolt and it is amazing the tire didn't just pop right when we hit it! We are being watched over for sure.

Hello there wonderful family and friends :)

Goodness gracious, Jackie got baptized on Saturday!!!!!! Oh my, it was a wonderful occasion :)  Her birthday was also on Tuesday so it's been a great week for her!  This girl, even at just 9 years old, has surpassed me in maturity by miles!! haha we were able to see her every day this week and on Wednesday she got her interview.  The last question Elder Nelson asked her was "What does this Gospel mean to you?"  Without hesitation, she answered "Happiness!! ....For all the little children!"  This girl is 9!  I can't believe her....she's an ancient spirit in a child's body :) you know the type ;)  The baptism was wonderful!  The Primary room was filled with people supporting her and it was just an amazing time.  Afterwards we went out to lunch at Applebee's with Ciria and Jackie, and Ciria started telling us about her husband.  He actually talked to us a couple weeks ago, which surprised her!  He was not happy about the baptism though....he said many ugly things to her about the church.  During the baptism itself, he sent her an email about another church that he was "interested in".  She's been trying to get him interested in other churches for years and years!  And nothing until now.  She's been fighting him now.  She's come to church faithfully for over a month now and knows that this Gospel is the best thing for her and Jackie.  Jackie truly is her world and she would do anything for her.  And us :) She says she's adopted us as her daughters :)  So yeah, they are doing amazingly.  Friday night, we showed them the FamilySearch website and she absolutely loved it!  Her grandmother did a bunch of work so there are tons of names that need work done in the temple.  And she can't wait to go there with Jackie :)  We talked about eternal families in church on Sunday too which just got her more excited!  This morning we had a pretty special experience with her as well.  She's struggled with endometriosis and some health problems in her abdomen for years since the army did surgery on her.  It's a long story that I won't go into at this point, but a few weeks ago she was struggling pretty bad.  She asked a couple priesthood holders who lived down the street to come and give her a blessing.  For a while, there were no obvious results...  Sound familiar?  This morning though, we went with her and Jackie to the doctor's office where they were going to do an ultrasound and check to see how her tumors and things were doing.  And guess what?  The tumors are shrinking!  She says that endometriosis rarely goes that way, but it's happening!!  She's been blessed and promises are coming true!  She's had so many miracles happen lately despite all the grief she's been given from her husband..  Truly a time for giving thanks :) That family is just so fantastic and it's been a privilege getting to know them :)

Transfers are coming up soon.  The call is in a week from Saturday!  That's when we'll see who's going and staying..  I'm pretty positive I'm going :)  I can feel it in my bones!  I'll let y'all know though when it comes :)

So I've come to a conclusion.  Everyone down here in the South is familiar with the bible.  Not everyone is bible-genius, but they can hold their own and know where it says what.  So I've decided that it's time.  It's time for me to read the bible.  I'm in the middle of Genesis so far :)  The reason I've put this off for so long is because when I read the scriptures, it's really hard for me to just read them.  I need answers to all of my questions!  Haha I've already asked Sis A and the surrounding missionaries many questions relating to the content and doctrine and you wanna know the most common answer?  "Just keep reading!  Your answer is on the next page!" haha apparently I'm impatient!  Who knew!? :)  Probably everyone but me...haha anyways I've come up with a solution to my problem!  I need to read with a purpose because that's how I am.  I feel like I'm missing things if I just read for the intent to get an understanding of the books...so I am doing a geneology chart :) I'll attatch a picture of what it looks like so far.  It's going to get intense I know, but I read a lot the other day straight through because I had something for my mind to focus on other than just reading! :) I'm excited to finally understand what everyone's talking about instead of having to look it up after a lesson.  There are so many things in the Bible that prove the uniqueness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints :) it's true.  The Bible says so :) haha so yeah, that's what I've been spending half of my study time doing!

The weather has been AWESOME!  Today, it's in the low 60s which is PERFECT!  We're sporting short sleeves :) It's been wet and rainy, but it'll be like that for the next three months :) ...yeah.  I said three months.  In March it warms up again.  Winter is so short!!!  Super crazy...it's gonna wig me out...there are still colors on the trees which I don't mind :)

So yeah!  That's what's going on in the life of the Harlem missionaries :)
I wanted to end with something about Thanksgiving (of course).  So when Sister Anderson came here, I hit my 6 month mark, meaning that I had a year left of my mission.  A cool thought came to me that I should write down a miracle every day until the end of my mission.  At that point I'd have a year of miracles :) So I've been doing that and it has been such a blessing.  When we take a few minutes each day to recognize what we've been given, it gives us a greater appreciation for the things we have.  We should be doing this every day in our prayers anyway ;) But I'd like to encourage yall to go the extra step and write it down!  Whether it be on a post-it, in your journal, or something you see every day.  It makes it so that on those days when it seems like there's nothing to write down....no miracles...that you can go back and see the things that you've been blessed with.  It helps you recognize even the little things :) It's been working for me and I know that it can work with you too!  Start this week!  That way, next Thanksgiving, you can look back and see a year of miracles, blessings, and tender mercies that the Lord has seen fit in His infinite mercy and wisdom to give us. :)

I know He blesses us more than we even know!  And I'm so thankful for the opportunity I have to be out here serving Him, bringing this happiness to so many people here in the blessed land of Georgia :)

     I keep on saying it every week and I am sorry if you are getting sick of hearing it but everything is going so fast. I really cant describe how quick everything is going. I am staying super busy with walking and teaching and walking and teaching. I have actually really gotten used to being tired. haha It was really weird cause I forgot it was thanksgiving this week. I didnt even figure it out until I looked at the calender and it was the third thursday. I thought it was at the begining of the month. It is just going by so fast but then again I have my days where it feels so long. This week was so good and I feel my tounge being loosed. Also I just understand a lot better than I did before. A lot of things happend this week and I might not be able to tell you all of them in the time I have but I will try. This week we had a multizona and Elder Wadell from the quorum of the seventy came and spoke to us. He was so tall and I think he was bigger than Presidente Boswell. Well it was so awsome to have him come and just talk in spanish for 5 hours. haha My head hurt so bad after that but amazingly I heard every word and understood it. Before he talked he shook everyones hand and that was a pretty cool thing. He was super funny and it just seemed like he really cared about what our problems were. Everything he said helped me appreciate more of the things I am doing on this mission. It really made my whole week a lot better. That was probably the best thing that happend this week but also we had a baptism. Elder Martinez baptized this little peruvian boy named Nickolas. He was so young but his testimony was amazing. Before he was baptized my ward mission leader turned to me and asked if I could teach a lesson on the holy ghost. I accepted but I was really nervous to talk cause it is spanish and I dont really like spanish right now. haha but when I started to talk the words just came to my mouth and I said what I wanted to say. After I was done with the lesson everyone had tears in their eyes. I am so thankful for the spirit and really if I go through all my mission without a baptism and it is just me teaching with the spirit and having others feel the spirit, I will be totally fine with that. It makes me so happy and I have never expirenced this happiness before. This week was really good for me to understand that it doesnt matter how many baptisms you have, it is just having people feel the spirit. Dont get me wrong baptisms are great and really that is why I am here but I like to focus on having people feel the happiness I feel each day. I am so thankful to be serving a mission right now.
     I might not be able to get through all your questions mom but I will try. If I dont today then you can just ask me on christmas. I think that will be easier. But anyways, I probably walk 30 miles or even more each day. It depends on how many lessons we have. We take a bus to the church but that is really the only time we do. When we conducta, that is going door to door and asking people if they want to hear the message we have. There are 4 others that are in our ward which is our district. On my P day we either go somewhere like a market or play soccer and I heard that we get to go to some ruins some time so that will be fun. When we went to the temple that was on a thursday and we got up in morning and went to the session. Well I am running out of time but I love you all and keep on writing me cause I read all of them and I try to respond to all of them.

Helloooo everybody! :D

Wow! This week has been amazing, especially in contrast to some of my other weeks! ;) But no, lots of good news, great happenings, and lessons learned!

GREAT NEWS! I am sticking around in Mina for at least another 6 weeks WITH Elder Gómez! :D My training is officially over, but I still get to be here in the ward that I really love that we've been able to really pick up, with three missionaries that are supersweet that I really love being around!!

The reason why that's such good news is that the work has picked up here a TON!! Just in the last week, we've excited lots of the members and received a lot of help and love in return! :) Also, we legitimately have the potential to baptize like every single week for the month of December, which is incredibly awesome! We find new miracles every day, and suffering what we had to was worth it just to discover what we have now!

Nice spiritual thought for y'all: earlier this week, we lost our electricity again (real life problems that come out of nowhere really are such a pain!) and I thought that we might lose everything we had planned that day again, and I legitly wondered if we were being punished for doing something really badly. So I turned to the scriptures :) In Mosiah 23:21-22, it explains that the Lord sees fit to punish His people, even when they're living in righteousness like Alma and his people.  It's so good to realize (at least it was for me) that life is hard sometimes just because the Lord knows what we need and what trials we need to experience! What's also good to know is that with patience and faith (tied together!) and with our trust in the Lord, we WILL come out of it all even better than we imagined, even if it takes a little while :)

I've now been out on my mission four months now, and I can't believe it's already been that long! That's nuts!! I've learned so much, but it all turns back to the basics:I know that Heavenly Father's there, He hears and answers our prayers, and He sent His Beloved Son to help us overcome everything we will ever face. I know that this church is true! Everybody try to remember someone in need in your prayers! Love you all so very much! :)

P.S. This week we have Elder Gómez and I on a moto one of our brothers just bought (it's pretty sweet, and our district (plus one of our zone leaders Elder Ramos) making sweet faces! ;) (haha, except Hna. Knowles, she forgot!) Hna. Velasco is now home, it was good to have her in our district! :)

I saw that title on a truck today, and it made me laugh thinking about the good ol south....

So this week we had an interesting lunch one day. They call it cow tongue.... and I didnt know what it was at first, and it was really weird but I ate it. and then at dinner we had it again and all I could think about was how the cow was licking my tongue.... ahhhh how awful. and we had a spinach cake as well that day. Needless to say, Elder Uturunco and I went and bought some actual food to eat to wash out the taste.
As for lessons, this week was pretty tough and scarce, but we taught 4 less actives in one day, which was sooo great. and we also had an amazing lesson with Seni and Elbira about marriage (they are convivientes) where he ended up crying. I can tell you with so much certainty that the Lord works through us. He HAS filled my mouth with words that were not mine, and the spanish salió perfect. I know that if we live worthy of it, the spirit will accompany us throughout everything. I love you all so much! And I want to tell you how great E Uturunco is! We laugh soo much and work so hard, and have a great time. I hope you all are growing a love of the Book of Mormon like I am!

This Week here in Trujillo was incredible! So many miracles, and blessings.

My new Companion. Elder Valencia, is 26 from Lima, Peru. He has 21 months in the mission and I am soooo blessed to have him as a companion!! He has an incredible story and this week ive grown in so many different ways! He has 3 years in the church, and about 2 in misson. He was convereted in 3 days, and baptized at 12:30 in the night! incredible! During his mission he has lost his Father(4 weeks ago) to health illness, and his Brother(about a 1 1/2 ago). So he has had quite a hard time in the mission! But his testimony is incredible and wow he is so strong!

The work is going great! AnaMelba and Bruce are doing great! DEC 21 there going to get baptized, Bruce is my best bud, he calls all the time, and just wants to hang out, but we cant do that. haha He´s preparing a pretty big party for tomorrow. We are also working with a bunch of PF which is part familys. Louisa and Josep Louisa is the mom and Josep is the son, thats going pretty well, and The other my fav Daniel and his son Piero, Piero is 11 years old and man he just wants to be a misisonary! There incredible families that were going to patch up, back in the church!

My comp, is the master teacher, because he has so much time he is really a great teacher! We have started to teach with Mormon Messages and wow, Powerful. Im really very glad to be Elder Valencia, We get a long sooo well, best buds, and My spanish wooow its going through the rough! We are working soo hard, last night we skipped dinner cause we had to many citas. hahha dont worry mom we still ate, just a little later.

ahhh this week, an idea ive been trying to pursue in our ward is Folders for our Consejo De Barrio and this week we were able to make them and fill them with all the forms, so now every president of each oganization has a folder. I really hope they use them and It will be a great help to do the work of salvation!!

This work is incredible! There is no place id rather be then in the misson for my Birthday!!! I flop into bed, my body is just aching all over (ps. satuday we built a roof for this lady, got some narley blisters, annnd whoof I got burnt burnt!) anyways my body just aches but the only thing i can manage to do is SMILE!

Hello all!  This week was great with many miracles!  I am learning more and more everyday!  Larry is one of our investigators, who has been meeting with the missionaries for almost a year.  He is the nicest person, and he know everything, he just has some word of wisdom problems, which are preventing his baptism.  Anyway he comes to church every week and we meet with him often.  So Larry has been helping this family get on their feet the past two weeks.  So last night we went to visit with him, and Amber a girl from this family is at his house.  So he introduces us to her, and Sister Doman and I start teaching her the restoration.  She is just taking it all in, and accepting eveyrthing we were telling her, and she accepted baptism!  WOO YA!  We were pretty excited that we were able to teach her!   We are going back tonight to teach her more.  But how we were able to teach Amber through Larry is truly a miracle.  He just saw an ad one day 2 weeks ago, for someone (Amber) needing a bike to get to work.  So Larry had this old bike that he gave to her, and he has been helping her family ever since.  At the time he didn't know why he found the ad, but he was guided by the spirit so that he could bring amber to us, so we can help her come closer to Christ.

Sister Doman and I had a lot of experiences this week with less active, and part member families.  We have run into multiple people who were baptized years and years ago, who basically don't know the gosepl at all.  So our goal this week is to bring others back into this gospel, and to remember the covenants that they made at one point.  And to remember what this gospel is, and what it does for their lives.

Something that I have learned this week, is you never know.  You never know who could be in need on this gospel, or who would accept it or who could use a prayer, or a hug, or a compliment, or a conversation.  So I want to invite all of you do find missionary opportunites as you go throughout your week, because you truly never know.  This gospel is so amazing, and we have so much because of it.  So we should atleast give everyone a chance to have it!    God is truly amazing, and I've seen endless miracles this week.  Epecially in this time of thanksgiving, make sure you remember how much you have been given!

Hey how are you all doing?

    I´m doing great, so last week was changes and I am with my new campanion now Elder Ashcraft, it was sad to see Elder Mata go but it seems likes me and Elder Ashcraft will get a long pretty well. Elder Ashcraft likes football and basketball and he is from Idaho and has about 16 months on the mission.

    Something really awesome that happened recently is we got basketball rims, before all we had was a basketball backboard but just recently they installed rims, so me and Elder Ashcraft go and play basketball a lot in the morning. It´s really fun but the only problem is the rims are smaller so it is harder to make baskets and also the hoop is lower so I can almost dunk it haha.

    We did a really awesome activity (that the missionaries did) this week we had breakfast (from the U.S.) for dinner. It was really awesome I taught everybody how to make pancakes, there was also orange juice, eggs and because syrup doesn´t exist here we made like a fruity topping syrup like stuff and it was really good. Everybody seemed to like the food from the United States.

    This week has been kind of crazy, we have been working super hard and have been talking to a ton of people. I hope you all have a great week and talk to you next week.

Hola todos!

My companion Elder Urquhart and i have been working this week to try and find some new investigators this week. We have been trying to meet with part member families and menos active families who we dont know yet. This week just feels like we have been walking around with no success. but now when i think of it it has been helping me see the little miricals the lord does for us everyday. I guess you could say i am seeing the glass half full. This is something this area has taught me. I am not saying i hate this area cause i dont i really love it  and i dont want to leave. the work may be hard but i love it.

we also had the opportunity to go to the temple the week and watch a sealing. this was the first time i had ever seen a sealing done in the temple and it was in spanish. I love going to the temple. While there we met so many people who spoke english. One family who was visiting the mission on there son and they were from orem... and another guy who was from idaho falls on a buisness trip. and the other was the sister of coach ander from sky view it was such a small world haha.

I have been reading in the last chapters of the book of mormon this past week and i was in 3 nephi just before christ dies and nephi is preaching to his people and working miricals and healing people. but thing that stood out most to me was that nephi showed his humility by recognizing that it was only through the lord that he could do those things. It applys to our missionary efforts all the success we have is not because of us its cause of the lord. and when we thank the lord he blesses us in return.

Hello!
This is crazy, I am actually in England.  To be honest, it isn't much different than America, or at least the area I am in.  It is not what i was expecting at all, but I still love it.

So we flew here Tuesday (I think, the days are all a blur).  We flew into the Warwick airport, which is an hour outside of London, so I actually haven't even seen London yet cause it's not in our mission.  BUT I do get to go into London tomorrow!!!!! Quintin L. Cook is doing a mission conferance at Hyde Park Chapel so we have permission to ride the train into London for that.  I am so excited.


My companions name is Sister Hickman, she is from Blackfoot, and she is amazing!   THis is her last transfer which is really sad, but thats what the Lord wants and I am so blessed to have her as a comp for this transfer.  We are serving in Brighton, which is the highest baptizing area in the mission!  We have three investigators with baptism dates in December!  Hopefully we can keep it up!  A little bit about it here, it is the gay capital of Europe, so that makes it interesting...It means that no one judges though and everyone is accepting of everyone, so people are open to listening to us.  It is right on the coast, so it is super pretty here.  IT reminds me a lot of New York City.  Just kind of dirty everywhere.  Everyone smokes weed, so it stinks everywhere.  It is kind of the party place in ENgland.  But I love it!  We ride double decker busses everywhere, and they aren't as great as you would think.  But it is still an adventure!

It took me a while to get used to driving on the other side of the road, I would get carsick if I thought about it too much, cause drivers here are crazy!   They are super good drivers though!


THursday we taught a lesson to an investigator in a cafe, and i heard real music for the first time in weeks.  It was weird, but I kind of enjoyed hearing stuff from the outside world.  I also got a bus pass that day, so I can go on a bus anytime I want!  woohoo #missionarylife
 
Sister Hickman is a Sister Training Leader, and they had Missionary Training Conferance Friday in Staines, which is about 2 hours away from us.  WE got a call from the office elders that afternoon saying we needed to take a train up to Crawley and stay with the Visitor Center Sisters for the night so she could make it to MLC.  So we rode a train up there, which was fun.  Not what I was expecting, it is not like the trains in Harry Potter, just kind of like a subway train.  We went on splits for that night and the next day.
For lunch that day and ward member made us some rice with tuna and vegetables.  AS soon as she said tuna I wanted to puke.  It was canned tuna, but I decided I just had to think it was chicken, so thats what I did and I was able to eat it all.  I am going to have to get used to eating stuff like that.


Something super frustrating here is that no one is married.  Everyone just lives with their boyfriend or girlfriend, which means they can't get baptized.  We have 2 investigators that want to be baptized so bad, but they aren't married so they can't be.  And neither are planning on getting married until like june.  So frustrating.
But i may be here for it still, everyone tells me I should plan on being here like 6 months, so I better start liking it...and I do love it here!

Some cool stuff me and my comp are doing this month.  WE decided we need to be more grateful for what we have.  So every night before we go to bed one of us says a pray of just thanks, it is super hard.  Try it.  You have to really think about what you are saying so you don't ask for anything.  WE have only done it for a few days now, but it is amazing to sit down and really think about what you are grateful for and how much you are blessed.

Another thing is the Church is doing a Christmas campaing, alot like the EAster #becauseofhim one.  They have stuff in Times Square and everything, which is super exciting.  So from now until Christmas we are studying Christ.  WE are sitting down today and writing our testimony of Christ, then spending a little time everyday until Christmas studying about Christ and his life.  WE will rewrite our testimony on Christmas day, and then read them both and see how much it's grown.  I am super excited to do this, you should all do this too.


And tomorrow we go to London!  My comp has only got to go to London once the whole time she has been here, so I am super blessed to have been able to come into the mission when I did.  It will be so good!  And we have thanksgiving dinner at the chapel thursday which I am excited for.  I miss america.  Everything is so expensive here.
My and sister Hickman only have like 8 pounds right now...we have no money.  She only had 4 left from the last transfer, and they gave me 40 when I got here.  But that money was used to buy my bus and train tickets.  So we are so poor right now.  WE just have to last until tomorrow though, then hopefully we will have enough money to buy food and stuff. haha, don't worry though, we aren't starving.

NI HAO!!!

What a good week. We spent alot of time with Wen qian getting her ready for her baptism!!! Making sure she was ready to go, resolving any last concerns and all that stuff!!! We asked her who she wanted to batpitze her and she wanted me to do it!!!! i was so happy!!! So yesterday i had the amazing opportunity to baptize Wen Qian!!! It was so amazing. She is such a good friend to the both of us and it was amazing to see her baptized. I was so excited. Even though i had to baptize her 2 times hehe. Her leg came up out of the water... whoops!!! I forgot my camera though this week... so pictures will come next week!!!! It was so awesome. I am so grateful for her.

We also had dinner with our man Wang! He is super cool. He showed us this super awesome game. It is called 三国杀 (sanguosha) Or it is called in english the legend of the three kingdoms. It is the coolest game ever. We taught him and his roomates, and then he wanted us to come play with him. We found we had a set in our flat so we are going to go play it with him and his roomates and teach them as well. He is super cool though. we are so pumped.

Shi Cong(harry) is doing really well too. he came to church and saw the baptism and he loved it. We are pumped to keep teaching him. He loves god and wants to serve him. So we are excited to help him come closer to god!

Well since this week is thanksgiving, i just want to say what i am thankful for. I am thankful for this awesome oppurtunity to be out here and sharing the gospel. I am grateful for the blessing that is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am grateful for the living prophet on the earth today and for the direction we get from him. i am grateful for every one of you. I am grateful for all of your prayers and thoughts on my behalf. I am truly humbled and so incredibly grateful for them. I am thankful for Jesus Christ and his atonement for us. I am thankful for all these things.

I shouldve started this email way sooner sorry its gonna be short this week.....  Anyways we are super blessed because Our less active friend is coming to FHE this week so hopefully that goes well.  We get to head out to Rottenberg for Pday today so that should be amazing.  Haha at one of our street displays an older lady tried to Kiss me on the Street, luckily my reflexes are lightning quick.  Something really cool I figured out the other day.... There is a talk about seeing people for how they can become on a mission and not as they are now.  That is honestly a little hard for me because I dont know how they can be.  But thats where YOU come in.  When I look at people, often they look like somebody I know from back home.  Somebody that I love Miss and care for, (which is all of you) but they dont have the gospel, then i feel overwhelming love for them.  I see that even though they arent happy  now they can be and I want them to be like the people I know.  Sometimes I forget to do this but I think if i figure out how to always do this it will make a huge change.  Just know that even though you cant see it, you have huge potential and God wants to help you reach it. It must be uncomprehndable how much God really loves us.   God can see your potential because he knows all things adn hes your dad.  So stop letting personal worry or doubt get in the way and make the changes neccessary to come closer to Christ and God.  He will make more out of you than you could dream of.  Sometims we dont understand our trials and suffering, but trust in God.  He is ready with open arms for those who will turn to him. The trial may not go away, but the strength to endure will come.

Happy Thanksgiving week everybody!
I get to celebrate thanksgiving today thankgoodness, at the church thanks to the mission couple elder and sister lewis. They gave everyone tasks and i got to work with Elder shane canfield elder murphy the zl's and elder green and make pie. we made some good pies, and we even smashed the mango's with a stone just like indonesians do! embracing the culture eh?
This week was another week of searching and trying to find. We got some pretty hard core rejections, but also had some sucess. we always ask for referealls, so we got one, followed it, got another, and then at that house got six more which is so many more than ive gotten in a week before! Its given us people to visit, and opportunies for them to hear the gospel!
This week we also visited with a former investigator that was once called Golden Investigator. But he always agues and never progressed so they stopped going. I can see both sides of this story and im hoping that after time he can realize all his questions are answered if he jsut finds out if the resortation of the Gospel really happened. He thus far hasnt acted or done his part so God cannot do his promised part, but we're gonna try, and also try to not bash with him, cuz hes pretty deep in the bible and also searched the internet and finds falsehood for his questions.
Besides him, and inactive member visits, we just proselyte and do our best to find. Soon i think the work will start picking up in this area as we obey, and improve and have the spirit with us, cuz honestly im a terrible teacher, and they will not learn if we do not have the holy ghost as our third companion, bearing witness to them of the truthes of the gospel.

We got transfer calls on Sunday and I'll be staying in Anseong for at least another transfer! But my companion is ditching me to go be a Zone Leader haha, so I'll be getting a new companion as well. My trainer was so incredible (Elder Wilcox). He honestly is probably one of the best at Korean in the mission (besides the natives of course) and that's been a huge blessing in my life because I got to feed off of that for 3 months. No, of course I'm not fluent yet, but I'm very pleased with how much God has blessed me with this wonderful language. I was really spoiled to have such an amazing companion and relationship at the beginning of my mission, it sets the bar really high for the rest of my companions haha. It'll be interesting not to go running every morning as well, not sure how I feel about that, I started to actually like it haha.
What I can say for the next little bit though is that these next couple transfers are gonna be a huge step and growth in faith. Not totally sure why, but that's just the feeling I get. BUT I'm ready. My faith is in God, my desires are set, and I'm ready to act. God will continue to be a God of miracles, and that's one piece of hope that pushes me forward every day.
Last week we got to go to an ancient Korean Village! Ah, you'll just have to look at the pictures, it was so awesome. Outdoor museum type of thing. Only bad thing is that it's hard to learn about ancient Korean culture when you don't have a Korean with you haha, but it was cool nonetheless.
Fun experience with Opening Your Mouth last week as well coming home from that activity. Subways are my favorite place to talk to people because they can't escape haha! ^^ So I was sitting on the subway with an older lady on my left, studying some Korean from the brochure I picked up from the village. An older man enters and sits down on my right, and I figure, hey I'm a missionary, I should talk to him haha. So, he was a bit shy, didn't really want to talk as I started into a little conversation, so he got up and left to a different car haha. BUT because of that little conversation, the lady on my left happened to be listening in and started asking questions about why I was in Korea. I was more than happy to once again respond to an opportunity that my Heavenly Father mercifully gave me. I got to testify of the BoM, about a modern prophet who leads and guides our church through revelation to God, I got to be a missionary. It was an incredible testimony builder to me that if I'm putting forth my faith to open my mouth, to show a humble example, and preach this gospel, that God will generously bless me in my efforts.
Another thing I got to think about a lot this week is prayer. The more I learn about prayer, the more I realize I really need to improve haha. But it was really fun to realize how we can fulfill the scriptural saying of "pray always." No, we can't literally be on our knees praying to God at all times, but we can pray always through our LIFESTYLE. If we are showing love and gratitude to God and Jesus Christ by the way we live, we are praying always and blessed with an incredible promise to conquer Satan and his temptations! How cool is that, right? Another huge thing I realized by reading through True to the Faith about prayer is that, "God seldom will do something for you that you can do yourself." Give that a thought, prayer requires ACTION. I know that prayer is essential in obtaining a strong relationship with the most Supreme Creator in the universe, and when we earnestly and sincerely pray and act, you can more easily see the blessings that come into your lives and also be able to resist temptation more easily. God loves us so much and wants to talk to us as we talk to Him through prayer. So, I challenge you all: Make an honest effort this week to pray always, and look for the blessings that come ^^

Holy smokes I love being a missionary! This week was seriously so great, TONS better than the first and Im glad a good amount of the adjusting to missionary life is over. First off on Friday I think, we had an EARTHQUAKE! Well acutally a sismal which I think is like an earth tremor. Anyways... just chyillin and learning some spanish when I started to feel the earth vibrate under my feet and then my chair started vibrating and shaking against the wall behind me. THe teacher told us to follow him so we evacuated the building. holy smokes was it scary! First time Ive ever been in one and apparantley they get them a lot, so that was fun!

Then on saturday we got to teach some young men from our maestros ward, btw our teacher is the bomb! He just got home in march and is so funny and spiritual it{s amazing. Anyways, we taught his young men just to practice strengthening members and such and one kid we were talking about why it was hard for him to get to church and he said because he didn{t have enough money... its like half a sol which is like maybe eight cents! Then we were talking about maybe getting help by calling one of his leaders and he just looked at us like were were nuts! he said he didn{t have a cell phone! Duh! I felt like such a dumb rich american and it was such a humbling and real moment for me. you can hear about all that stuff, but when you have a fourteen year old in front of you saying it, it is crazy. My companion was confused and thought it was a mock discussion and invited him to come to church with us and he said yes... but i was like, that wont happen cause were in the CCM... so i called my teacher over and he solved the whole thing. I felt bad because the kid looked kind of frustrated and embarassed... but he said that he got it all work out for him to come with his leader.... still figuring out what 3rd world means!

ALSO mostly for the fam, but and Elder here looks JUST LIKE PEETA MELARK! And everyone tells him so, it{s a little creepy. Anyhow, i bust up laughing almost everytime in basketball and soccer or see him  because of the Studio C haha...then today at volleyball he passed out a few extra churros and i said Elder Melark, the boy with the bread!! and we all just about died... so funny and reminds me of those last fun days with the fam haha. Girl I got your back mmnn!

We had Elder Evens of the 70 who is over all the missionaries come speak twice on sunday and it was awesome!! I also sang in the choirs which was really fun to sing and feel the spirit in spanish. AND we had a chocolate fountain at lunch. Best. Day. Ever. That night we also watched Ephraims Rescue and for some reason every spiritual thing as a missionary is like christmas. IT WAS AMAZING! I loved watching it and seeing how the lord prepares people in their lives for the work he needs them to do. Especially cool thinking in the terms of a missionary.

And as of this week I am officially and INTERMEDIO! I actually feel really comfortable with spanish, i cant conjugate much right now but i can definitely hold conversations and understand lots. The gift of tongues is more real than i had ever imagined!! I also did the session at the temple today in spanish and understood almost all of it, crazy how much the Lord helps me through the Spirit!

Okay, by far the highlight of the week was yesterday. we went to migraciones earlier this week for visas and stuff and the whole time we were there I was like, I just want to talk to these people, but I don{t know how! You see people so differently as a missionary, I just wanted to tell them all how much the gospel means to me and can change their lives. Oh that I were an angel haha.... Anyhow, I decided I was going to write my testimony in my extra LDM (book of mormon) and bring it with me to interpol yesterday, and prayed that if I was prompted I would have the courage to open my mouth. And guess what..... with the help of the Lord and another sister I PLACED 3 LDMS!!! It was sicker than skydiving or anything! Like and adrenaline rush of the spirit and excitiment! First off it was a super nasty place where they check your teeth and take fingerprints with stray cats running around.. I love it here haha.. and We were just talking (hermanas) to two nice men in their 40s about life and stuff, why we were there, etc, and I asked if he was interested in learning more, and to my surpise he said YES! So i pulled out the book, showed him moroni{s promise, my simple testimony i had written in the front, some other classic explanatikon scrips and gave it to him. Then his friend wanted one and luckily some elders that had been out for forever were there and had more books of mormon! Talk about loaves and fishes.... anyhow, we were also talking to a super nice man who just moved here and got married and he was so interested. We gave him all of the elders info and another book and it was just so good! I have no idea how they understood me, but they seemed to and were so interested! They were super excited which I was not expecting. Then I was sitting again next to these two girls going to school that were friends and we started talking and I started teaching them as well! a fluent missionary came over and we taught the first lesson and got their information. Sadly we were out of books of mormon, but they were so excited for the elders to come to their house. Truly an amazing experience. I almost threw up after because I realized they were all REAL! I just did what we{ve been practicing on teachers, but I knew that the Spirit had helped me and was so grateful I got the experience.

Everyone in my district after was like, wow you are so cool! But honestly, I just wanted to share it. Ive been waiting a while to be on a mission, and now that that is my job full time I was like, what is holding me back! (besides my caveman spanish) but it truly was an answer to my prayers this week and a lot through my life. Can{t wait to learn more and do that every single day! The people really do want religion down here and are so prepared and loving. its incredible.

We went to garages today, super sketch mall of just garages and got some jerseys and candy.. besides that just a fun week at the CCM. I LOVE it here and will be sad to go. There are so many amazing missionies and Ive learned tons.

Thanks for all the emails, prayers and love. I truly can feel it and am grateful for all of the support. I know that as we try to give more to the lord, and humble ourselves, he opens the windows for blessings beyond our comprehension. Have a great week!!

Dear Friends and Family,

This week was another great week!! There are many miracles happening here. One of the greatest miracles from this last week was that Tyson, Julia (his mom) and Carla (his girlfriend) all came to church! Julia has been in Mexico for a month or so but came back here for good. She seems to have a new fire built in her for the gospel an seems to be reactivating which is very exciting! (she hadn't been to church since she was baptized 20 years ago except for the time when Tyson was baptized.) They are planning on coming to church this Sunday and also to the ward party we are having after Eva gets baptized this Saturday!

Also this last week we found out how really strong Eva's testimony is. After the baptismal interview we found out that her husband is "okay" with her getting baptized but would really rather she didn't. The same with her whole family, and in fact they've been trying to talk her out of it a little bit. But Eva is so awesome and has a very solid testimony of the gospel. She has made up her mind, and she's not going to change it. She says she feels prepared and ready. :) We are also going to bring Hermano morales over to there house next time to help and be friends with Geraldo (Eva's husband). The Morales family is super awesome and always ready to help with missionary work.

This week we are also having a Zone Conference and Elder Corbridge from the Seventy is going to come.

Dear Family,

I forgot to write one other miracle in the other email!! This was an amazing miracle. Its one of those miracles that every missionary hopes for.

We went to Fort Hancock to visit Catalina Soto. She has been very very prepared! We had given her a blessing last Monday for health. When we went back to talk to her on Thursday she told us that when she went to the Doctor he told her she had very clean blood. And asked if she had been to another doctor or taken different pills. She then continued to bear her testimony to us about how she found us. She was actually the one that contacted us. She said she would have never had the courage to yell across the street like she did, but she felt like she really needed to. She said she feels like it has been a miracle for her to find us and to hear the message of the Restoration. She has been to church the last two weeks and loves it. :)

This was a great testimony building experience that shows the great power of the Priesthood and also how God is preparing people all around us to hear the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This week was great and it flew by so fast. Every day seems so long sometimes and then I find myself at the end of the week. It is really crazy how fast it goes. I thought a lot about if there will be times were it feels like my mission is never going to end or if it will just fly by. It is super crazy that I have three months in my mission and November is flying by so fast. Next thing I will know it will be december and then march and then a year and then boom.. I am home. I am not thinking much about that, it is just a lot of the missionaries say that. Well I am enjoying everything right now except for the humidity. It is so hard to sleep because of all the humidity and it is so hot in our room. Even with the fan going. haha and it is only going to get hotter. ahhh. Also it is kind of hard to sleep knowing that cockroaches and spiders are crawling on you. haha that hasnt happend yet but the bugs I have seen so far make me think that every night. Anyways there are so many things that I am trying to remember this week to tell you but its really hard for me to remember. Last weeks P day was really exhausting. We went to a market were there was nothing but people and shops. I would have taken a picture but I guess that is a really good place to steal stuff so I didnt take anything expensive. Each day is an adventure.
     So this week we had an activity for members in the ward and also investigators. We played games and it was actually super fun. At the end of all the games Elder Alacama turns to me and says teach everyone a lesson. haha There was about 80 people there and I didnt prepare anything at all. I was super nervous and really I didnt know what to say but when I started the spirit just took over. My lesson was about faith and how we need to have faith in Jesus Christs atonement. After I was done with all of the lesson, Elder Netzley who is from Cache Valley came up to me and said I didnt make any mistakes and everything was perfect. Yesss. haha I was so happy and many people came up to me and thanked me for the lesson. The members in my ward call me powerful Nieman. haha It so cool and it really boosted up my confidence. Well I really do try my best with these letters but that is all I can think of that happend this week. Oh and one more thing we had a baptismal date for this Saturday but Nayeli is her name didnt come to church. But that is ok cause I know she is coming next week and next week we should be having a baptism which is super awesome. But I will talk to you next week.

Hey guys!

So, everything is going good here!! Living in a house this week was GREAT! Oh my goodness, having just one definite place to live is so wonderful, what a blessing! :) Quick note on that, I'm glad that nobody called the mission president, it's a looonnggg story, but in short, there were problems with our neighbors, but it's all good now! No worries! :)

This week! Tuesday we had a zone conference by President Morales that was SO good! I felt the Spirit stronger than I had for like a week, and everyone loved the contacting and teaching that Elder Gómez  and I did in the practice! :) This whole week, the work has literally been so guided by the Lord, it's been such a blessing to see that! Discouragements came, but I got through them just fine.

A really sad story, then a very happy one! We had a really cool inactive that we were teaching, and his wife was really warming up to us, but we went by Saturday to see if we could get them come to church, but we ran into José (the inactive) and he was drinking on the street.  This man that was normally so nice and considerate changed completely with the alcohol, and I felt so sad for what happened, because I really care about them.  I decided that if there's something I want to do as much as baptize, it's help someone overcome an addiction.

Yesterday though, we had a miracle!!! Elder Gómez and I were feeling kind of tired last night, and all of our appointments fell through, but we looked at our list of people to contact and we were standing next to one of them.  So we knocked on  the door, and this family (nonmembers) recognized us as missionaries, then asked us to teach their kids about the Plan of Salvation, because their abuelita had passed away.  That was a special moment for everyone, then the mom told us that she'd almost been baptized before and that she'd had a dream where she was a member and her son was a missionary!! WHAT!?!?!?!?!? I could hardly believe my ears! They're so ready to receive the blessings of the Gospel!! :D All we have to do is answer their doubts well and show that we care about them, and they'll be ready to accept and receive everything! Wow! That was simply AMAZING, I feel so blessed to be involved in this work! :D

I'm so happy to be a missionary! Despite anything and everything, I know I'm meant to be here, without DOUBT I'm being so blessed, it's so good to know that I have His support, and that of all of you too!  I hear things aren't going well for a lot of people, but look to your neighbors and family that you trust, and always trust Heavenly Father, He loves us SO much, we just have to love Him too! :)

This week was AWESome! the last week of my training, my last week in this change, and my last week with Elder Kaelin.

We had an awesome Baptism on Tuesday night of Carlos Alcantara, It was a really good service, Elder Kaelin Baptised him. It was a little stressful and disappointing because not many people could attend the baptism and his family was late as well as the ward, but its okay because That night Carlos stil made a very sacred covenant with the lord and is making the changes he needs to make. our next goal with him in the Sacerdocio and then to help his family make the same covenant. He has two crazy kids and his wife, that are awesome. It was a really nice day.

The rest of the week went really well, we worked really hard and got a lot of lessons. A few of our most recent and progressing investigadors are Sharon, she is 18 years old, and very Coki, which means very flirtacious, but we came in contact with her because she wants to learn english, anyways we have been helping her a little with english and then teaching her the Gospel, Its been great! She has came to church twice, and asisted carlos baptism. Anyways I hope to continue working with her and helping her progress. The next is a family of four. AnaMelba is the mom and her three kids. Josylin, Michelle, and Bruce! BRuce is my favorite, we have fun together...my favorite memory with him is we asked him to say the prayer and he just couldnt do it. haha he just kept saying ahhh no se.... no se.....ahhhhh no se... it was so funny! hes 12. Anyways they are doing great, they came to church yesterday and there great!

Church this past week was crazy! We were given the beautiful chance to give talks. 15 min each. and saturday night we still havent even deciced what to talk about. anyways, on sunday, all of trujillo didnt have water, or lights, so we gave our talks in the dark and without a mic. It was great! I gave my talk on the Book of Mormon in the Work of SAlvation! I shared 1 nefi 15:24-25
Ephesians 6:10-18 and 2 nefi 25:26 it was aweosome
I also, confirmed carlos a member of the church and gave him the Holy Ghost, what an incredible moment!!! so humbling.

Just loving the South :) The weather lately has been clouds and cold wind and rain.  Kinda like Utah!! Except, there are still some green trees here among all the colored ones...definitely doesn't seem like November weather.  I'm in a whole different world!  It hasn't dropped below 37 degrees yet either :)

First of all, we were extremely blessed this week.  I take no credit for anything.  The Lord's hand was everywhere!  On Tuesday, we set a date for Jackie to be baptized! :) We've been teaching her for a few months and finally she has a day to enter into the waters of baptism....Man, that was such a spiritual lesson.  Baptism wasn't planned at all, but the Spirit led us there and it was totally inspired.  Love those moments :) and we need to strive to make every single moment one of those.
BUT, not only did we put her on date, but we went over to see Ciria and her daughter Jackie many times this week (Jackie's kind of an elect name ;) ).  And guess what....Jackie's getting baptized this weekend!!!!!!!  She turns 9 tomorrow and we're super duper excited for her :) :)  every time we go over there, she asks if she can have a lesson so she can be ready for her baptism.  She's just super smart and the Spirit is definitely working through her. She takes in information like a sponge.  She's asked us so many times about getting baptized and her mom has always said  to us that "she needs to make the choice for herself and not because of anyone else."  And boy, has she made the choice :) And she won't stop talking about it!  We are so excited for her :)  I feel like that family is one of the reasons I'm here in this area. I'll come back to go through the temple with them.  Ciria's asked me to :)

Soo yeah those are the two wonderful people we're focusing most on this week to get them moving! We were able to also do a lot of service this week.  From painting a baby's room, to helping put together breakfast burritos for the scouts, to helping get a relief society activity ready.  There's been a lot :)  Even little things like letting the elders borrow our car so they don't have to ride their bikes to the store in pouring rain.  Man, I was thinking about this yesterday...one of the things I have really learned on my mission is not only how to do these various tasks, but how to absolutely love doing service.  It brings so much joy and happiness that you just can't receive otherwise. haha sometimes I get selfish and when people ask if we can come help out with something, I get over excited because I know I'll feel really good afterwards :) Because who doesn't like being helped out right?  :)  That's one of the things I will keep up after the mission...Always looking for opportunities to serve :)

I learned something else just this morning actually,....I've been reading more out of the bible (you gotta be on your toes with these southern baptists ;) ) and this morning I read a couple stories.  One of the classic ones that I have always loved since the Veggie Tale days is the one of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.  They were thrown in the fiery furnace for not worshiping idols.  When they got out, the king was amazed and started glorifying their God.  I started thinking about how because they responded to their trial by faith, the King was changed.  People are going to look at how we respond to the trials and challenges that we are given.  Because when it really comes down to it, how we react to things when we're at our weakest points can define our character and who we really are....what we value.  Those three men had faith in God and valued keeping His commandments and therefore they were blessed for it.  The King saw that and saw that any God that would bless his followers like that is worth following. haha would yall agree?  We can stand as witnesses of truth and righteousness by how we react to what we are given to handle in life.  So I challenge all of you to stand by what you believe.  Defend it, especially when it's hard.  Do hard things.  It's what you're made to do :)  And you'll be blessed for it I promise...

MAN!  Where do I even begin!!  Well The first night in Florida we went out contacting in this super ghetto neighborhood, and I was super nervous.  But it was awesome!  WE got to talk to a lot of  cool people place some books of mormon, and the people who live in the ghetto have MAD respect for Jesus.  It's pretty awesome!  The next day we had tranfer meeting!!  WHOO!  tranfer meeting is crazy and everyone is whooping and cheering and it's all just real exciting!  I was nervous about who my trainer was going to be and if I would get along with her.  But let me back up first!  So last sunday sis M and I said the prayers for relief society in the MTC.  When you say the prayers they announce your mission.  So we get off the stand and this Sr Sister Missionary comes up to us, and she tells us that her daughter is in our mission and gives us hugs (she gave me 2) and to give her daughter a big hug from her mom.  I was just joking with her like "Just wait she's going to be my companion!"  Anywho I remembered her name, but didn't really think much of it.  So I see her daughter at transfers and I told her what happened, and gave her a hug from her mom.  She was excited and it was great.  So then they start announcing the companionship and we're companions!!  Sister Doman and I.  She is awesome and we're bffs, and she makes me push myself to be the best missionary I can be.  I don't know how I got so lucky to have her for a my trainer!!

I really love it here, and yes the weather is perfect at the moment.  And yes my hair is a giant puff ball.  I've seen so many tender mercies and miracles this week!!  I can't remember everything, but I will tell you the most recent ones.  Last night we were out harvesting.  We go and ask if we can say a prayer for people in their home, instead of just leaving a message. it's a really awesome way to get to know people and tell them about the gospel.  Anyway we're out harvesting with a ward member, Shayla, she's 15.  We're walikng down this street and sis Doman asks her what house we should go to, so she picks one, and we all felt the same.  We walk up and this colombian man, John, is sitting in his garage so we start talking to him and he's religious, then his wife comes out, Irma.  And we're telling them about our church and why we are different.  and irma tells us that she has been looking for another church to go to because she doesn't feel right about the baptist and catholic churches.  So I was so excited because we found some people who were sooo prepared for this gospel.  So we say a prayer with them, and they invite us in.  Their house was awesome by the way.  We get talking and then we invite them to be baptized.  Irma tells us she's already been baptized, then John says to her "Actually honey I've already been baptized by the mormons in colombia when I was 16."  And we all just die.  Like what the heck John! Why didn't you tell us that before!  But I think he really didn't realize who we were becasue he was baptized like almost 50 yrs ago.  Anyway we're totally getting Irma baptized and reactivating John!!!  We were pretty excited about finding them!!

We've had some really incredible experiences and some powerful lessons, like sometimes in a lesson you could just cut the spirit with a knife!  I always have to remind myself to stop thinking and let the spirit teach, because when I do, the lessons are amazing!  I'm so happy to be out of the MTC and I love the mission and my companion and the people here!  I am doing swell  I love you all, thank you for the love and support!!

So remember how I said I was kinda sick.... ya tuesday I had to go to the clinica and found out I had an infection in my larynx and trachea, they gave me an IV to kill the fever, finally, and a butload of pills to take to get rid of the awful phlegm that I have had and still have a little. So we were in our room the entire week and left like twice, not even to eat, our pencion brings our food.

My bed is very very comfy, for all you guys who are wondering, and yesterday I slept till 1:00, i think that is a record for me! haha.

SO I had lots and lots of study and had some super sweet experiences reading in alma, Like every chapter every day I learned som amazing things, I learned about the Atonement,  soooo much about that. Ahhhh I love study sooo very much. I also made a tie rack out of a broken chair, but I didnt have a saw, so I had to cut the boards with a hammer and screwdriver and had to scrounge nails, which are an oddity here.... unlike our shop at home.... haha. And pounding into cement walls.... ya that was fun. dumb nails. I had a lot of time to draw, and i am doing a temple drawing of the Trujillo temple for my pencionista since she has pretty much kept me alive, (other than feeding me sopa de habas, bean soup with the biggest grossest lima beans you have ever seeeeeeeen in your life. 43 of them and I ate them ALLLL!:)  I learned to tell time by the shadows on the bricks, haha. ya. OOOOOOHHHH and how could I forget! Since we didnt get to leave, I decided to let my beard grow out for a day, what a sin, I know, but I couldnt let no shave november go all the way without doing it!! haha ya I think that is all about the week. wrote a lot, drew, read and slept. Pretty good. I finished all my medicines except for one I finish tomorrow, and we are going out tomorrow morning, so pray I dont die cause I am not gonna miss it....

I love you all so much, here is a video for you. I know my Savior lives and loves me and is always there to comfort me and help me. He is waiting at the door and knocks, LET HIM IN!!! You cannot have the happiest life without him and his Sacrifice, this I promise you. Cant wait to get all the letters your gonna send me! Do something to serve someone else, even if it is small. I promise you it will make you truly happy.

Hello all! I dont have much time but this week was awesome we had the opportunity to listen to an apostle elder Christofferson up in the norht mission so we got to travel in micro to the north offices. he his wife and a member of the seventy spoke to us bassically all about the attonement of jesus christ and how it applys to our teaching and to our lifes daily. It made me realise that Jesus is always there for us with his hand out ready to take our hand and help us. he know what we are going through cause he has gone through the same thing. It is through the attonement that we can return to our heavenly father to live with him again and that we can recieve a perfected body. The attonement is there for us. Going to church everyweek and partaking of the sacrament helps us renew our covenants with god. The sacrament is the most important part of going to church. I know that is through the sacrament and the attonment of jesus christ that we can be fully forgiven of the sins we make everyday cause noones perfect.
Anyways a cool thing about this week was while waiting for a bus this week in Ramos Mejia this car pulled over with a flat tire and this woman with her child gets out and she starts to get the things out to change the tire... elder Connell and i had the idea to go and help her out. she accepted our help and him and i changed that tire so fast that i think we could be in the nascar pit stop crew haha jk haha even though nothin happened with the woman and we didnt know where she lived but she still got the good impression of the elders and mabey one day that will help her open up her heart to the missionaries. anywho thats my week kinda i hope all have a great week!

Hallo!
This weeks had its ups and downs but I think every week is that way in life.  I was super blessed to go on a comp split to Ansbach this week.  That place is beautiful I felt like I was in real Germany. And the elders their gave me some great american food.  I ate in a bakery for the first time and ate a peanutbutter nuttella sandwhich which were both glorious.  I got to work with Elder Roberts and I found some great stuff in preach my gospel about testifying and hit the streets.  Miracles really do happen on splits cause I think we all work harder.  I came back and my comp found two new investigators. Sadly our potential investigator with cancer randomly told us she doesnt want contact anymore.  I think she'll change her mind though.  Weve seen huge progress with one of the Less active Members.  We went to have our first lesson with her and she couldnt meet with us because her cat was dying.  Shes so incredibly nice though.  The first time we went she gave us jackets cause she thought it was too cold and the second time she sent the dinner with us that she had prepared.  Shes started reading in the Book of Mormon and she will meet with us later.  This is a miracle considering our first meet she didnt want anything to do with church.  Im still working on staying awake in meetings, especially since my comp is trigger happy with his camera.  Dad your going to be dissappointed but I ate raw meat this week!  Its called Mett and its like hamburger, it was actually pretty decent.  I found something really cool in study today.  It was in the Bible Dictionary on faith.  It talks about how strong Faith comes from keeping the commandments.  So if any of you are questioning the Gospel or your faith start keeping the commandments!  When we live the word our faith grows and we know its true.  Im also realizing the importance of Charity.  We had to clean out a dighusting house farm place and I realized charity would have helped out my attitude alot!

Hello Everybody!!!

Well this week was really good!!! We had alot of good things happen. The weather is really starting to get cold. Wearing my New fancy dancy Karrimor Jacket every day. It is the Avalanche model. Quite nice i do say. It does very well at being waterproof on the outside and nice and cozy on the inside. I am quite glad with it. But yea. It has been a good week!!!

We have been working alot with Wen Qian. I still dont know how to spell her name exactly... but i will go with this one. you say it wen chien. Chinese spellings. go figure. but she is suuuuper solid. We taught her the last of the commandments this week. and her date is at the end of this week. So we are suuuuper pumped. she is so cool. She has become like our best friend. She even made us hot pot this week!!! You should google it. It is so dang tasty. WHEW. She is so cool. She came to church and is doing fantastic.

We also had a really solid lesson with Lu this week. we taught him and he wants to get baptized! He wants to do it so we are super pumped about it!!! His date is on the 12th of december. Hopefully he can be ready for that date and make his first covenent.

We also saw Shi Cong a couple of times this week. We had a really good lesson about the word of wisdom. which is hard for a lot of College students to hear. But he said that he will try. He really loves god and he really wants to follow him. It is so commendable of him and we are hoping he accepts a date soon.

Something amazing happened this week. Elder battles baptized a girl the week before i came in, her name was Xiao Bo and we baptized Jing Hui. This week they went to the temple in preston to do baptisms. It was so amazing to see Jing hui and Xiao Bo go to the temple. We have been working with them alot and it is so amazing to be able to see them go to the temple. There is a really cool statistic if recent converts go to the temple within a 3 months of their baptism they are 80 percent likely to stay active in the church. Wow. I am so pumped. They both loved the temple and the peace it broght them.

in england, there is no thanksgiving. :( so Christmas stuff is already up. And it is everywhere. usually after halloween is thanks giving, so seeing christmas stuff go up right after halloween is pretty crazy.

Well i love all of you guys!!! I am so happy to be out here serving the lord and doing his will!!! I wouldnt rather be anywhere else at this time!!!

So, another wonderful couple Korean adventures from KyKy, aka Elder Jensen. We went to teach at one of investigators house and his wife was in the process of making kimchi!! Haha, it was so great, I had never seen it before. For real, kimchi is something you learn to like. My first taste was a bit scary, but it's gotten a lot better. And a fun fact, all kimchi tastes different haha, almost no joke. Every kimchi i've had never really has the same taste, always a bit different with the exception of this noodle place in the market. Their kimchi is incredible and consistent in flavor! ^^ One of my pictures will have that adventure.
Along with that, the same investigator's wife is involved with this traditional Korean dance thing so we got to go with him and watch her performance. His name is Jeong Jeong Hun 정정훈. This guy is so incredible. Right now it's been really hard but we had a good special meeting with him the other day. We've been trying to help him grow a testimony of the Restored Gospel because as of now he attends another church, but he loves what we teach and even defends it! Which is really odd, and it's kind of confusing, but ya, lots of work to do but he's amazing. Anyway, it's been Senior Week for me as part of my training and I got to lead the discussion. The language of course is difficult still, but God has been blessing me so much with the gift of tongues and interpretation. Leading the discussion, we started into some follow up. Not quite knowing what I would say next, but going into this with preparation and faith, God fulfilled His promise of filling my mouth with words. Inspired questions that I know I didn't really know how to ask came out of my mouth, and I got to listen to his sincere, personal replies. This has honestly been probably one of the biggest times I've realized this promise as a missionary so far. I can testify that that promise is true, but we can't just go into the situation with "no thought." It takes preparation and effort. This gospel is one of action, not laziness. I realize more and more, the more we choose to ignore the natural man, the more God will naturally bless us. Experiences like this help me know that I''m having a successful mission as talked about in PMG in Chapter 1 under Successful Missionaries. And I can promise to all of you as well, even if you aren't speaking a foreign, even in your daily life, God can fill you mouths with words if you seek the spirit of discernment, whether it be talking to a friend, helping your child with a problem, or even talking to someone about the Gospel. Try it out, I challenge you haha ^^.

Hey Everyone! Greeting from solo!
Well Im here. and before i left i never thought id say it, but i miss medan! so much! But Im in solo and rippin and roarin to do some work. LIke i said before my companion's name is elder sinaga. He has been on the mission for 3 months just like me but he got trained here so he's sorta leading me around for now. I am in solo 2nd ward out of 4 total wards in solo. Which is crazy. a fourth of this tiny city has 4 missionaries and the biggest ward in indonesia! In my ward they added two missionaries and split the area so my and sinaga in the south have no investigators, so last week we rode around and visited tons of non active members, and proselyted. what a joy. I learned that if you take a city a fourth the size of medan and put 16 missionaries inside, everyone konws you. so thats kinda strange, being already knowing why the white kids in ties are here. My area is a little less proselyted so less people know so we've gotten to talk to some people. Another cool fact about solo Red Zones which is where an area is famous for extremest muslims that are pretty extreme. Elder green (the DL and in my ward) said to his comanion Elder Pribawa who at the time was 3 days old in the mission (translated) "if you go there they try to kill you with rocks, so dont go there." This red zone is luckily in my area, and last night my companion got a little lost and led us into it. But dont worry. we asked for an address realized our mistake and hightailed it out of there.
Everything here is still going pretty darn swell. Primary program yesterday was so amazing, with 40 primary kids!
This week i learned a lot of new words about washin machines, faucets, tools,water pressure, shopping and bikes cuz we moved into a new house and had a lot of reparies to do, but now everything is fixed and swell again!
Another cool thing about solo is that the members love to feed the missionaries. we made three appointments with member to ask refereals and both times i had to finish my comanions and my food cuz its really rude to not finish here, and i ended up eating a lot of food. One of the member loaded us in a van and took us to a batak (medan culture) food place and we got too eat some pork which is rare here cuz of the muslim culture.
NOt much else happened this week, we are working hard to find investigators and help them by bring them the Good News of the restoration of the Chruch of Jesus Christ. Have a super week everyone!

Well I forgot to inform all of you, but I got my ears pierced a few weeks ago.  I don't know how I got the courage but my companions had to hold my hand.  They even took a video of it.

Sister Rigbey is from Rexburge Idaho and her Dad works at BYU Idaho in Computer technology department. She is the Oldest of four siblings with the next oldest being 17, 12, and then 10.  She love book and talking with people.  Sister Rigbey has been out for 6 months, but she has spent all of those in the little area of New York that our mission has.

Hey wonderful people :)
Honestly, don't be too sad, but there's really not much to write about this week...It was another struggle week for Sis Anderson :/ I have figured out that we respond to stress very differently.  She handles it by shutting down for a period of time and since I've come out on my mission, I've discovered that if I want to, I can work harder because of stress...  Well, that's been kind of difficult when both of us aren't able to work.  But hey!  She's awesome and we get along great :) our days may consist of spontaneous nerf wars where we take each other to the ground fighting over the good guns ;) haha we have fun.  You have to let loose in some way right? :)  We also both deal with stress by pestering each other. haha good thing we both have patience :)

So this week we spent time with Ciria and Jackie again :) They are coming along fantasticly.  The day that we happened to pop in, Ciria's brother Louis was there!  A month or so ago, he had gone off the radar and no one knew where he was.  He's found now though and is working in Columbia, South Carolina.  We found out that he was married in the temple and had a good, strong marriage in the church for 12 years.  Then divorce came and everything fell apart :(  Since then he hasn't been active.  When we met him and he got to see how much the Gospel has been helping his sister, I could see the change in him.  He wanted to do better.  When Ciria asked if he had the priesthood, he told her he HAS the priesthood.  He still considers himself a priesthood holder.  That alone is awesome :)  We went to watch Jackie cheer at some game and there was definitely a difference in him from the time we met him, to the time we left.  The light came back into his eyes.  The desire.  It was awesome to witness :)

So we had District Meeting this week and I was asked to give a training on putting on the whole armor of God.  It went well I think....haha I talked about how Satan is going to make unexpected jabs at us that we need to be prepared for.  Remember the nerf guns mentioned above?  Well as part of my training, I had Sis Anderson pop out unexpectedly and nail everyone with the Machine gun.  No one was expecting it ;) of course.  Because most of the time Satan isn't going to be obvious about our trials.  That wouldn't be very productive on his part.  There is one thing that we can always know though.  He is there and he wants us to fail.  And we can't let him.  We need to be armed with righteousness, faith, honesty, salvation, etc (you can read all of it in Ephesians 6) :) but anyway, it was a great meeting and our district is amazing.

I hope that yall know that the battle between good and evil is still there, but God has equipped us with the means by which we can succeed and come off conqueror. :)

I love yall sooo much!!!  Keep smiling and having a blast with life :)  God wants us to be happy :))

Holy smokes just knowing that I am FINALLY A MISSIONARY and writing a letter is making me so happy right now! I have so much to say, but first let me say this is the greatest thing ever. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
the flight here was great, we all had tons of luggage and felt like harry potter running through the parking lot trying no to get hit by cars with our massive carts.... haha so great!! My companion is Sister McCally from Washington and is super fun. She reminds me SO MUCH of Emily Hale haha.... personality, laugh, etc. etc. I}m so glad I got the chance to live and learn how to get along and LOVE her because it has made our companionship much better when there could be a lot of room for problems. The other hermanas going to Chiclayo are Hemana Wood and Thruston from Canada and ARizona. Super nice girls, Wood is like the definition of adventure and all the craziness I aspire to be. She backpacked Thailand and rock climbs daily. AWesome.
Spanish is so hard! the adjustment has been a little rough too because we all just want to be AMAZING missionaries RIGHT NOW! But espiecally here where NO ONE. NOT A SOUL. speaks english it is so hard to know what in the heck we are supposed to do.... i}{ve been doing a ton of [figuiring it out[ and such because seriously, were in the dark, but it{}s gotten a lot better and I feel like we just need to be patient and then its awesome! So many funny sayings in trying to learn a new langague [you eat babies? you are studied? I have laughed so hard Ive had tears and the maestro is like ]what the heck is wrong with you?
[ Also the first night the older hermanas told me they had a letter from a latino for me and were like {what did you do?] Turns out it was a letter from Elder Lewis who I went to school with! In his city in Chiclayo he met an kid who would be at the CCM and wrote me a letter with tips and such! So nice, but for days it was like the talk of the CCM [did you get your lette?!
All the teachers call me Hermana Click because they can{t say the egg part... and they ask [like the mouse?
I play basketball every day with the elders and hermana wood and its so fun! They are so good and remind me tons of Byu spring, I also tried to play futbol with the latinos the other day and it was such a blast! They are insanely good, and in the game I went to kick the ball and accidentally kicked his foot and knocked him straight on the back! They all started yelling }rojo carita[ or something like that for red card and were laughing so hard because he was tripped by a hermana..... I said lo siento a billion times. Also that game I scored a goal!! it was super lucky but then all of the lations were saying hi to me and stuff... got on the in level with them hahah... such a blast.
I say all my prayers in spanish, we teach in spanish, all classes in spanish, it is weird to write this in english! I love the language so much and it hasn{t been too bad. There have been classes or excercises where I get super frustrated and want  to cry, but for the most part, expecially speaking I feel the spirit so strong and all the words I learn just stick so easy and I can remember them so weel! Definetly the gift of tongues.
Also me and mi companerio have become super good friends with the group of lations sisters here and they are SO HILARIOUS! we laugh all through dinner every day and I kind of love the language barrier because we can kind of comminicate, but most of it is through laughter and feeling of their sweet spirits! Also a love the food here more than anything... probs too much! It is so delicious every day, and the CCM is super nice becausethere are like maybe 90 people here so you get to know everyone super well!
I realized later this week why being a missionary is so awesome, cause befroe it was kind of like We just have no idea what  we are doing and stink at spanish! But when we taught the latinos and fake investigators i feel the spirit SO STINKIN STRONG! It is amazing. It{s like i know exactly what to say and have such a strong desire to share it and bear testimony. Also only knowing simple words makes it that much better.
However last night we taught a much harder fake investigator and our lesson was not good. I think i was just nervous or distracted, but i couldn{t speak at all and it was so hard! Then we had to teach two more latinos and they speak so fast and can{t understand us at all.... it was just a long, frustrating night. Then to top it off the elders we taught last were giving us feedbakc and said ]You are very good teachers, but your spanish is so bad it makes me want to kill myself!! ] haha if you know me my eyes started to tear up and it was hard to shake off. Then when we got to our room i kind of broke down because i was so frustrated!! Hermana Wood was having a SUPER rough time too so she asked for a blessing and I went on splits and tagged along, it was amazing and the spirit was so strong, and they{re liike do you want one? UM YEAH! It was amazing and so powerful and all I wanted to hear. I love the priesthood and the amazing power of it. Today we went to the temple and then shopped and I just knjow I love this country and the people. Even though they are crazy drivers and I can only greet them and say }i know god loves you} haha....
Anyways, sorry it}s so rushed and jumbled, I just had so much to say for the first week, and so little time! This seriously is so fun and I know it{s where i{m supposed to be. I LOVE IT!

So this week went by super quick.  Monday we were out finding.  By that I mean we were out scouring the campus looking for a member of our dinner appointment group.  He got lost on campus and had a dead phone so we spent 15 minutes finding him and then went to get sushi.  Sushi actually isn't too bad.  I got a deep fried steak and egg sushi roll.  I know what you are thinking.  I am the most authentic sushi eater ever!  'MURICA!  We finished dinner with a nice wasabi challenge.  I didn't think the wasabi was too bad.  It burns for a second but it goes away super quick.  Tuesday we had our investigator, Cait, teach a lesson to us with a member, Taylor, as her companion.  That was awesome.  They taught well and we got a member present lesson without teaching!  Best investigator ever!  Wednesday was awesome because we were taken out to lunch by a less active to Moe's.  Moe's menu is epic!  They had the 'Art Vandelay', The 'Funk Meister', The 'Quite talker' and one of my favorites The 'Joey Bag of Donuts'!  I was more impressed with the names than the food but it was super awesome to see that I was so inspirational to them that they dedicated a menu item to me ;)  Thursday was fun as we taught a recent convert's friend.  They went to Smoothie King and he came in with a pumpkin smoothie that he didn't like so he gave it to me.  I love pumpkin stuff!  So delicious.  Then we were taken out to dinner by a couple awesome members.   They also took us to get frozen yogurt.  What better kind than pumpkin!!!!  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!  PUMPKIN EVERYTHING!!!!!!  So yeah.  It's getting cold here.  Like 40's and 50's cold.  It doesn't sound too bad but it's a humid cold.  I am super disappointed that Florida actually does participate in winter.  I would rather take the dry cold than a humid "cold" any day.  Oh we also have another investigator, Latedrick, who wants to be baptized super soon so by December, hopefully, he will be baptized!  Well that's all I got this week.  Have a great week Y'all!
