Elder Kasey Crafts

Dear Friends and family,

This has been a fantastic week full of great things! Today is our p-day because yesterday was Veterans day and the libraries aren't open.

This past Monday we went to Fort Hancock with the kimbles to meet with a lady named Catalina Soto. She is very interested in the church! She found out about the English classes that the Kimbles are teaching and wanted to meet with us. She even came to church this past Sunday and said she loved the services, and wanted to know the requirements for baptism. She is a very prepared person ready to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. She is about 65 years old and lives alone because almost all of her family was killed in Juarez about 10 years ago. (That happens horribly often. Many people travel to Juarez, Mexico every weekend and sometimes they just don't come back. The drug cartels are in power over there. Its crazy because all of this wildness in happening about 5 min away in Mexico and here we are in Tornillo safe.) Catalina says that she is planning on coming to church again this Sunday! Also, we offered to give her a blessing because she was feeling a little sick. I anointed and Elder Kimble gave the blessing. After the blessing she told us that she just had chills the whole time and felt warm. :)

Yesterday, Elder Roll and I went on Exchanges. We visited a man named Ruben that we have been visiting off and on since i've been in this area. We just stopped in to see how he is doing, but we got on a really good conversation about many different things! He has become very interested in the Book of Mormon and we left him several chapters read. Also, everytime we had been meeting with him he has never prayed with us. We asked if we could leave him with a prayer and we asked him to say it. He said he didn't want to. We didn't think that was a good answer an so we talked to him for about 15 min specifically about prayer and trying to negotiate. It got to a point and i had an impression to say "Ruben, as representatives of Jesus Christ we know that you can pray, and that God wants to hear from you. It is not important what you say, but it's important that you do it." It felt so awesome to feel the spirit work through me and to him so strong. We later came to a conclusion that Elder Roll would pray, then i would pray, and then he would pray. When he did he gave an amazing and heartfelt prayer. :) Prayer is so important. If investigators wont pray then they will never progress.
